A NEW DAY IS DAWNING in the world of coffee here on the mountain in San Rafael. I am writing to you today to share with us in this time of harvest and Thanksgiving for the incredible success the SRSCI has experienced this year.
The original vision – From the start, the San Rafael Sustainable Coffee Initiative (SRSCI) was created to bring coffee farmers and coffee lovers together. Our vision was to build a new approach to sustainable farming and commerce where everyone benefits – farmers and consumers alike. I am happy to report that your support has helped us succeed beyond our dreams.
We’re growing – We started SRSCI with three farmers and today we have twelve. More importantly, our humble little SRSCI has set the stage for a new approach to the business of coffee. Unlike “Fair Trade” and other “marketing” concepts, the SRSCI is truly bringing coffee directly from the farmer to the consumer.
A big announcement is coming - My apologies for almost being silent! For the past six months we have been working with some visionary partners who realize that coffee is the next frontier for sustainable commerce. Imagine something similar to the “Farm to Table” movement in the States where the farmer participates directly in bringing his coffee crop to the table. This new initiative will link farmers and consumers from around the globe. We will be making a formal, exciting announcement on November 15.
We need your continued support – Like last year, you can help us have a successful harvest through this Thanksgiving purchase. The goal is for everyone of our friends and supporters to share a cup of coffee from San Rafael for Thanksgiving this year, and for our community to give coffee to the world for the Holidays this year!
